A delicate sterling silver chain suspends a beautifully carved leaf pendant of vibrant red Spondylus, long admired in Andean cultures for its rich color and its association with prosperity and vitality. The leaf adds a flash of red to a cream sweater or a summer dress.
Spondylus is the shell of a spiny oyster from Pacific waters, used in Andean offerings and ornaments long before the Inca. That pre-Inca heritage is exactly what inspires Ilaria, the Peruvian house founded in 1992 by Italian-born designer Ilaria Ciabatti, whose artisans handcraft every Eva piece in Peru.
