Handcrafted in 925 sterling silver, these Mapuche prayer earrings (Lükütuwe) pay homage to a Mapuche ceremony of prayer, showing a person in a deep bow. This is one of the most significant symbols in Mapuche culture, always present on the trariwe (sash) of women’s clothing, where it is considered a protector of the female womb. Wear them as a quiet, personal expression of faith and protection.
They come from Ulcha Küyen, a Chilean silversmith enterprise founded by Mapuche goldsmith Marcelina Huentecura in Carahue, in the Araucanía region. Each pair is shaped entirely by hand using ancestral Mapuche techniques like chiseling and embossing, so the symbol carries both its meaning and the mark of the artisan.
Keep the earrings in a soft pouch, take them off before swimming or applying perfume, and polish the silver gently with a soft cloth.
