The chakana, or Andean cross, is one of the most important symbols of the Andes. This chakana pendant necklace represents the three levels of the Andean world. Hanan Pacha, the upper world, appears as the condor. Then, Kay Pacha, the world of the living, is the puma. Finally, Ukhu Pacha, the inner world, is the serpent.
Ilaria is a Peruvian jewelry house founded in 1992 by Italian-born designer Ilaria Ciabatti. Today, more than 100 skilled artisans work with the brand. Together, they blend contemporary design with Peru’s long silversmithing heritage and draw inspiration from pre-Inca traditions. In addition, they shape and finish every piece by hand.
This necklace is a meaningful gift for travelers who fell in love with Peru. Also, it suits anyone drawn to Andean culture and spirituality. For daily wear, pair it with a plain top in white or black. Therefore, the colorful pendant becomes the focus. In addition, the 50 cm length sits just below the collarbone.
